The Radiotherapy Trials Quality Assurance (RTTQA) Group is an independent, multidisciplinary network, based across a number of UK NHS sites, with the remit to monitor safety, consistency and accuracy of treatment within clinical trials.

The Group is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to design and implement radiotherapy quality assurance (RT QA) programmes for all trials in the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) Portfolio of studies that include a radiotherapy component.

RT QA activity is assigned and implemented on an individual trial basis to ensure the required standard for radiotherapy treatment in the trial is achieved. A streamlining approach is employed to reduce QA requirements for individual trials based on participation in, and QA completion for, previous trials.  The RT QA component for each trial is categorised as Minimal, Basic, Moderate, or Complex as determined by the radiotherapy technique employed by the trial.

The RTTQA Group has fostered extensive national and international links and collaborations to perform, facilitate and develop its work.
